Product: 3 1/2" Steam/Condensate Union
Customer: The Johnson Corporation

Ever wonder how they inject hot steam into a giant, rotating paper pulp drum?

Probably not, but it's an important part of making paper products. Steam is injected (red passage) through a special rotary union. And, the resulting condensed water is returned through the center (blue) passage. Rotary unions allow rigid piping to be attached to rotating equipment using special seals to prevent leaks and spillage.

Product: SPD/SDC Rotating Sensor Consistency Transmitter
Customer: DeZurik

In the paper industry, it is important to measure and control the consistency of pulp as it goes through the paper making system. DeZurik uses a constant speed rotating disc to sense changes in drag, which can be translated to changes in viscosity to the mixture going through the pipe line.

Our cutaway shows the rotating disc in the pipeline with the motor and torque sensing equipment. The quality, complexity and ruggedness of this product are best shown in cutaway form.

Product: Durametallic-Flow Serve
Customer: Durametallic

Durametallic wanted to show a cutaway of their VRA shaft seal. The goal was to show the seal in a typical configuration, but they didn't want to add the weight or expense of showing it an actual machine.

We fabricated a 2" aluminum shaft attached to a 1/2" aluminum plate, to which the seal was then aligned. The engraved nameplate was added to identify this special seal. They did a total of 15 seals of various styles in this manner.

Product: 7.5kW Hitachi D.C. Motor
Customer: Nissan Forklift Corporation, North America Marengo, Illinois

For training purposes, Nissan Forklift wanted a cutaway of one of the electric motors it uses for its forklifts.

To provide an attractive and stable display, we mounted the finished cutaway on a 1/2" thick brushed and clearcoated aluminum plate. The complexity and quality of workmanship of this heavy-duty motor is clearly shown in this hands-on training aid.

Product: Fire Hydrant
Customer: Mueller Company, Decatur, Illinois

Ever wonder what that fire hydrant out by your parkway looks like on the inside?

To prevent freezing, a special valve must be installed below the freezing level in the ground. When shut off, it allows any water inside the hydrant to drain out into the soil.

Hydrants in Northern climates actually extend much further below the ground than above.

Mueller is proud of the many unique features of their hydrant design. All these features are dramatically shown in this cutaway.

If you have an interest in a training hydrant for your local fire department or training center please click here to inquire with us and we will contact you with more information.
